DermaLife M Culture Medium DermaLife M is a new low serum, PMA-free, Cholera toxin-free medium optimized for the culture of Human Epidermal Melanocytes (HEM). DermaLife M supports the growth of these cells over a period of at least 15 population doublings. DermaLife M contains no antimicrobials and no phenol red; components that can cause cell stress and “masking effects” that may influence experimental results (Lifeline offers these traditional supplements; however these are not needed, or recommended, to achieve optimal cell performance).
DermaLife M Culture Medium Components DermaLife M is offered in a kit format composed of basal medium and associated supplements and growth factors called “LifeFactors®.” This kit allows you to prepare fresh medium in your laboratory, extending shelf-life and enhancing performance. DermaLife Basal Medium is provided in a light-protected 500 mL bottle. The remaining LifeFactors (growth factors and supplements) are packaged in a convenient gas-impermeable pouch for easy storage. DermaLife® M Medium grows Human Epidermal Melanocytes (HEM) through at least 15 population doublings at rates that exceed commercially available medium containing PMA or cholera toxin while maintaining excellent cell morphology. In comparisons with commercially available medium, DermaLife M shows superior proliferation and maintenance of L-DOPA Oxidase activity at different seeding densities over a period of 7 days without media replacement
